Our phone call a week late because of elections in the Philippines

I'm a little slow with this post, but we have had a few big
things going on, one of which is Cody's baby sister graduating
from High School. I'm sure he would have loved to have
been here for it, but he will just get to hear all about it
and look at pictures. Congrats baby girl!

I wanted to kind of make a list of things that we learned while talking to Cody on the phone. Since you all didn't get to experience what a thrill it was to actually talk to him and hear his voice and that strong foreign accent that he already has. We had a wonderful visit with him and it went all to fast.....all hour and 1/2 of it! Maybe some of the things on this list you would have had to actually hear the conversation to get the humor in it, but suffice it to say that his sisters kept the conversation lively at times.
1. He called from the Salazar Family's home, member with 4 kids, one serving a mission in the
Philippines. They frequently feed the missionaries lunch and dinner.
2. Hot, June rainy season
3. Cody now carries toilet paper in his backpack because of a little mishap of a companion not
making it back home because of the Church Bldg. not having toilet paper.
4. His apt. is a 2 bedroom, 2 CR (comfort room, ask Heidi what she calls it), living room, kitchen
with cooking facilities of 2 burner propane stove and a rice cooker.
5. Cody's feet and legs hang over the end of his bed, beds smaller and he taller.
6. Meals are rice & toppings, different meats, use lots of vinegar and soy sauce, has learned the
technic to eating rice with his hands.
7. Has eaten Balut 3 times (whatever is he thinking), intestines (he THINKS pig)
8. Eat lots of dried fish, put in sun to dry and cook.
9. Balut crunches when you bite it, ie: bones and beak, tastes like a mix between boiled egg and
chicken, not bad with lots of vinegar and salt. (I'll take his word for it)
10. He gets call "Joe" alot. They call Americans "Joe"
11. He is really really tan, but is really really white still compared to them.
12. Work, eat, sleep, repeat........

that translated to "people".
